In short
First check the charger: clean the charging contacts, seat the Corrale firmly on its dock or connect the magnetic cable, and use a working wall socket. Let it charge fully. If it still runs flat quickly, the battery may be worn. Dyson can advise on battery replacement, so contact Dyson support with your serial number.

The Dyson Corrale is a cordless straightener with a lithium-ion battery, so it can do something a corded straightener never will: run out of charge. When the runtime drops sharply, or it refuses to charge at all, the cause is usually either the charging connection or the battery itself. Batteries wear with age and use, while charging problems are often down to dirty contacts or a loose connection. This guide covers the checks to try at home, the signs of a worn battery and how to get a replacement. Dyson's own instructions vary by version, so use your manual alongside this.
Quick checks first
- 1
Plug the charger into a wall socket you know works, not an extension lead.
- 2
Wipe the charging contacts on the Corrale and on the dock or magnetic connector with a dry cloth.
- 3
Make sure the styler sits fully in the dock, or the magnetic cable clicks firmly into place.
- 4
Check the battery indicator lights to confirm it is charging.
- 5
Leave it to charge fully before testing it again.
Note:Lithium-ion batteries need care. Do not use a Corrale that is swollen, cracked, unusually hot or smells of burning. Unplug it, keep it away from anything flammable and contact Dyson. Never try to open the battery compartment or fit a battery yourself.
Symptoms and likely causes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No charging lights at all | Socket, charger or contacts | Test the socket, clean the contacts |
| Charges but runs flat fast | Battery wear | Contact Dyson about the battery |
| Charges only in some positions | Loose dock or cable connection | Reseat, check the connector |
| Works corded but not cordless | Battery fault or flat battery | Charge fully; contact Dyson |
| Will not switch on | Flat battery or fault | Charge, then check the manual |
How long should a Corrale last on a charge?
Dyson quotes up to around 30 minutes of cordless styling from a full charge on the Corrale. Your real runtime will be shorter on the highest heat setting and on thick hair, because the plates draw more power to stay hot. Expect less runtime in a cold room too.
One useful point: the Corrale can also be used plugged in, so a weak battery does not stop it working altogether. If the styler works corded but drains quickly cordless, the battery is the likely cause.

Signs the battery is wearing out
All lithium-ion batteries lose capacity over time. It happens faster if the battery is often run completely flat, stored fully charged in a hot place, or left unused and flat for months.
If you see these signs and the charger checks above have not helped, the battery is the next thing to look at.
- Runtime is much shorter than it used to be on the same setting
- The charge indicator drops quickly after leaving the dock
- The styler cuts out while the indicator still shows charge
- It takes far longer than usual to charge, or never shows full
Resetting the Corrale
Dyson's troubleshooting steps for the Corrale differ by version, and there is no single reset that fixes battery wear. What often helps with a styler that will not respond is to charge it fully on the original dock or cable, unplug the charger, then switch the Corrale on again. If the reset described in your manual does not work, contact Dyson support rather than repeating it many times.
Battery replacement and the guarantee
Dyson says the Corrale comes with a two-year guarantee when bought from Dyson or an authorised retailer. A battery that fails early is something to raise with Dyson under that guarantee. Outside the guarantee, contact Dyson support about a replacement battery or repair. Use only Dyson's own parts and service; third-party batteries for lithium tools carry a fire risk.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my Dyson Corrale not charging? Usually the socket, a dirty contact or a loose connection to the dock or magnetic cable. Clean the contacts, reseat it and use a working wall socket.
Can you replace the battery in a Dyson Corrale? Contact Dyson about a battery replacement. Do not open the styler yourself or fit a non-Dyson battery.
Can I use my Corrale while it is plugged in? Yes, the Corrale can be used corded. This is a handy workaround if the battery is weak while you sort out a replacement.
How do I make my Corrale battery last longer? Avoid running it completely flat every time, store it somewhere cool and charge it every few weeks if you do not use it often.
