The Carbon edition of the Faszin Professional is a wide plate straightener with 42 by 110 mm titanium plates and a live LED temperature readout. It suits people with long, thick or curly hair who want to straighten in fewer sections and see exactly what heat they are using. Its main difference from the wide ghd models is a published plate size combined with an adjustable range from 130°C up to 230°C.

In its favour

  • The 42 x 110 mm plates are stated as 85% larger than a regular straightener, so thick hair takes fewer sections.
  • Eleven settings from 130°C to 230°C and a live LED display make it easy to set and check the heat.
  • Wide 100 to 240 V voltage range and a 2.2 m 360° cord are listed.

Good to know

  • The brand is far less established than ghd or Cloud Nine, and no warranty term is stated.
  • Wide plates are awkward for short hair and fringes.

Our take

Plate size and titanium

Faszin states that the 42 by 110 mm plates offer 85% more heating area than a regular straightener, cutting straightening time in half for thick, long or curly hair. Titanium is lighter than ceramic and heats quickly; Faszin claims its plates are 150% smoother. The 3D floating plates move with the hair to reduce tugging.

Amazon lists 680 g for this Carbon version, which is still modest for plates this wide.

Getting the heat right

The listing describes an MCH heater with HeatShotZ technology reaching 180°C within 30 seconds, and HeatSyncX temperature compensation to reduce drift from root to ends. Settings step through eleven levels between 130°C and 230°C on the LED screen, switchable between °C and °F.

For fine hair, starting at the lowest setting is sensible, since 130°C is already above the 100°C floor of the Cloud Nine Original Iron. The top settings are best kept for very coarse hair.

Ions, cord and travel

A negative ion function, turned on and off with a short press of the power button, is claimed to boost shine by 23% and smoothness by 28%. The listing also gives a 2.2 m cord with 360° rotation, a hinge lock and a 30-minute automatic shutdown. The marketing text mentions 100 to 240 V, though the spec table shows 100 V, so check the plug and rating before use abroad.

Faszin or a premium brand

The ghd Max uses dual-zone heat at a fixed 185°C with plates 70% larger than standard ghd. The ghd Chronos Max adds close-edge plates for root control. The Shark SilkiPro also reaches 230°C, with dryer airflow and three combs. No warranty term is stated for the Faszin.

Verdict

Pick the Faszin 42 mm Carbon if you want wide plates, adjustable heat and a clear display for thick or curly hair. If an established brand and guarantee matter more, the ghd Max or Chronos Max are the alternatives, and fine hair is better matched with the Cloud Nine Original Iron.
