This Dyson Airwrap i.d. is the straight and wavy version of Dyson's connected multi-styler, finished in ceramic apricot. It is for people who like the Airwrap idea but find it hard to judge how long to hold each section. The i.d. curl sequence handles that timing for you, adjusting heat, airflow and timing to your hair and then storing the settings so the same curls can be repeated.

In its favour
- The 40 mm long barrel is listed as a hair waver for loose, bouncy waves.
- Stored wrap, style and cold shot times let you repeat the same waves each day.
- Intelligent heat control keeps temperatures under 150°C, per the listing.
Good to know
- The app features need a phone and the MyDyson app to get the most from it.
- It is listed for straight and wavy hair rather than curly or coily hair.
Our take
How the i.d. curl sequence works
Coanda airflow draws hair round the barrel automatically, with no clamp. With the i.d. curl sequence, one button press wraps and sets each section, so you are not counting seconds or twisting by hand. The tool remembers your wrap, style and cold shot times. Bluetooth links it to the MyDyson app, where you can build a hair profile, follow step by step routines and save preferred settings.
Intelligent heat control keeps temperatures under 150°C, according to the listing, and negative ions in the airflow are stated to reduce static on straight to wavy hair.
The six attachments
Dyson lists a conical barrel for tighter, defined curls closer to the root, and a 40 mm long barrel for loose, bouncy curls and waves. A large round volumising brush adds body at the root. An Anti-snag loop brush is described as a smoothing brush with less snagging and better scalp comfort, and the Coanda smoothing dryer dries and hides flyaways in one step, with up to 58% less frizz claimed against the original Airwrap attachments. A storage case is included.
Power, weight and settings
The Dyson digital motor V9 spins at up to 110,000 rpm, and the listing gives 1,300 W, 240 V, three speeds and three settings. Amazon shows a weight of 600 g. Dyson suggests starting with freshly washed hair, using the Fast dryer to get to about 80% dry, then switching to the styling attachments.
Where it sits in the Dyson range
The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2X is the step up, with twice the air pressure and an air straightening attachment. The Dyson Airwrap Origin is the step down, with three attachments and no app. Against a ghd clamp tong such as the ghd Chronos Curve Classic Tong, the i.d. runs much cooler, but its curls are made with air and generally need more preparation time.
Verdict
Pick the Airwrap i.d. if you have straight or wavy hair and want consistent curls without learning wrist technique, plus lower heat than a barrel curler. Choose the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2X if you also want air straightening, or the Dyson Airwrap Origin if you would rather skip the app and keep things simple.
