The FlexStyle IonCurl is Shark's newer take on its air styler, finished in pink. It is aimed at people who liked the original FlexStyle but want curls that hold more shape. Shark puts that down to CoandaBoost Technology, which it says gives a stronger wrap force than the standard FlexStyle, and to airflow packed with 200 million negative ions for less static and frizz.

Our take
Ion airflow and curling power
Coanda airflow draws hair onto the curler, wraps it and sets it, so you hold the tool still rather than winding by hand. With CoandaBoost, Shark claims bouncier and more defined curls than the first FlexStyle. The ion output is stated at 200 million negative ions, aimed at smoother, shinier results with less static. The motor is rated at 1,750 W, the highest figure among the Shark stylers on this site.
Scalp Shield mode and the Airset button
Scalp Shield mode is designed to protect new hair growth from too much heat, and turning it on adjusts temperatures straight away. The Airset button has two jobs: a double tap pauses airflow while you reposition, and a single tap gives a burst of cool air to set a curl. Both are small touches, but they make the styling process calmer, especially when you are new to air curlers.
